Stories like Ibai’s are the ones that make us feel like we have the best job in the world. This former Aladino from the town of Bermeo visited us at the hospital a little while ago so he could donate his savings to us! His €125 that he patiently saved up are going to go towards the reform of the children’s ICU at the Hospital Niño Jesús. His kindness has left us speechless.
14-year-old Ibai was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 5 years old. Treating his illness was a long and difficult process that involved two bone marrow transplants (both of which took place at the Hospital Niño Jesús in Madrid). Today, Ibai is all better and has a completely normal life. The only thing he has to do is visit the Hospital de las Cruces once a month for a special treatment to keep his immune system in tip-top shape. He’s even a competitive rower now! Ibai is a champion in all senses of the word.
