Aladina is one of the 11 organizations recognized by the Teva pharmaceutical company for its contributions to healthcare by constructing the Maktub Center, one of the pioneers in bone marrow transplants.
Our director, Ishtar Espejo, was in charge of collecting the award. We are particularly excited by the honor because it all started as a promise Paco Arango made to a patient. In February 2013, his promise became reality.
The judging panel for the “Humanizando la Sanidad” (“Humanizing Healthcare”) awards recognized Maktub for its pioneering work in Spain. Apart from its cutting-edge technology, the center also takes into account the emotional wellbeing of its young patients and their families. The Maktub Center opened its doors just over two years ago, and it’s already carried out more than 110 bone marrow transplants.
It was a wonderful night for Aladina and the rest of the honorees, including Pallapupas, the Fundación Atresmedia, Fundación Sandra Ibarra y Fundación Juegaterapia, just to name a few. Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved!
